♥Most Amazing Face Mask EVER (and you can find it in your kitchen!)♥

14 July 2015 16:04
Today we are discussing the birds and the bees. Well, actually just the bees.

(Photo credit: Photo Junkies Photography)

It's all about the honey. I did some research on the benefits of honey, and according to various sources on the internet honey can do amazing things for your skin.
My skin has been awful for most of this year, so I decided to try it because honestly, I had nothing to lose. For the first time in my life I had acne, REAL acne (not the occasional breakout that I used to refer to as acne before.) I didn't want to leave the house, and I CAKED my foundation on to try and conceal it, I felt like poo. For the first time I truly understand how acne affects you every day of your life.

Anyway, on to the good stuff. I started using honey every morning as a "face wash", because my skin has been quite dry lately. I noticed an improvement within the first week, but then I decided I wanted MORE *rubs hands together greedily*

So, for the last few weeks I've been applying the honey to my face first thing in the morning and then just leaving it on while I go about my life. Now, by life I mean making breakfast, cleaning and doing laundry. If you are the Queen of England and you have to go to glamorous functions early in the morning, this won't work for you ;)
I leave it on for at least an hour most days, Sometimes on weekends I only leave it on for about 10 minutes and it still does a great job. Then I wash it off, I have been using a cream cleanser to take it off (it's extremely sticky, but it rinses off very easily) then I just tone and moisturize as usual.

I promise you, I don't even recognize my skin anymore! It's so soft, my pimples heal so much faster, I don't break out nearly as much as I used to, and my skin actually glows ( I always thought "the glow" everyone talks about only exists in fairy tales and Hollywood). I really hope you try this trick and that you have the same amazing results I have had so far. It's amazing for dry skin as it's very moisturizing, but I think any skin type will benefit from it!

Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday, Honeys! (Honeys, see what I did there? teehee)

♥ DIY Hair Treatment - Coconut + Castor Oil ♥

04 March 2015 12:27

There is nothing quite as beautiful as healthy hair. Long, healthy hair is my ultimate dream, but unfortunately it's not easily achieved. About a year ago I cut my hair short, because it wasn't in the best condition and I always say, I would rather have healthy short hair than damaged long hair. Ever since then, I have been taking extra good care of my hair and this oil treatment is a life saver. It leaves my hair so soft and shiny and it promotes hair growth!

For this oil treatment you will need:

* Castor Oil

* Coconut Oil

* a Shower Cap / Plastic Wrap

Start by combing out all of the tangles in your hair, then part your hair into small sections and apply the castor oil directly onto the part line, where your scalp is exposed. Do this in small sections, covering your entire scalp with castor oil. Once that's done, apply your coconut oil onto the remainder of your hair, mainly focusing on the lower half of your hair.
Now, massage your scalp to make sure your entire head is covered in oil. Massaging your scalp also increases blood flow, which helps with hair growth as well.
Then cover your hair with either a shower cap or plastic wrap, and leave on for as long as you would like, at least 2 hours - but if you can, leaving it on over night is ideal. I never leave it on over night because I find it uncomfortable, so I usually apply it early in the morning and wash it at night.

I do this once a week, and my hair has never looked better.

When you wash this treatment out of your hair, I recommend shampooing it twice, to make sure all the oil is out. You don't have to condition your hair afterwards, but I always do - I never skip conditioner. It doesn't leave your hair feeling greasy or heavy at all.

Wishing you good hair days ♥

♥ Valentine's Day Butter Cake : Recipe ♥

10 February 2015 15:44

It's the week of lurrrrrv!

With  Valentine's day just a few short days away, I decided that this week's treat just had to be Valentine's inspired.
Me and Abigail baked this Butter cake, decorated with Butter icing roses, cornelli and some less than perfect writing. It was already quite late when we started baking, so Abigail helped me with the baking, but I only decorated the cake after she went to bed.

First things first, for the cake, You will need:

150g Butter (or margarine)
300ml Sugar
3 extra large Eggs
5ml Vanilla essence
550ml Flour
15ml Baking powder
a Pinch of Salt

* Preheat oven to 180°C

* With an electric beater, cream butter or margarine until it's soft and light in color.

* Add sugar, a few tablespoons at a time and continue creaming until light and fluffy

* Add eggs, one at a time, beat well between each addition.

* Add vanilla essence.

* Sift dry ingredients and add to mixture

* Add milk and mix well.

* Pour mixture into 22cm round cake tin, and bake for about 50minutes.

We added some pink food coloring to our cake batter, because we wanted a pink cake :)

I don't mean to brag, but this cake was absolutely delicious! It only lasted a day. *wipes icing off face* .

Butter Icing:

125g Butter or Margarine
500g Icing sugar
+- 15ml Milk

*Beat the butter with an electric beater until soft and light.

*Add icing sugar, a little bit at a time, while continuing to beat.

*Lastly add milk, a teaspoon at a time, until your icing is the desired consistency.

Here is a closer look at the icing :

And, of course, no baking blog post would be complete without a photo of this dirty little face:

Happy Valentine's week!
